Maid of Honor

What can we say about our Maid of Honor but, wow. Really, Genevieve Waller has been a staple in my life's diet since I (the bride) took on the daunting task of Journalism School at Concordia University. We both arrived in the program, wide-eyed, petrified train dwellers from the West Island.

After eyeballing one another on the train ride for the first few days of our very first semester together, I finally got up the nerve to approach her and say "hi." (Don't listen to her when she tells you I was asking her for money because I was so poor I couldn't even pay for my train pass home).

The rest, they say, is history! And what a wild and sordid history we made, in and out of the classroom. As I lovingly came to refer to her as my Pink Blob, we journeyed in the Sentramobile and I raised in my ranks to become our friendly neighbourhood Care Bear cult leader ... (and yes, I realize Gen is pretty much the only one who's going to understand anything in this paragraph). From Perigoe to Conway to Babinski and Raudsepp we giggled, laughed, wrote notes, occasionally did work, and managed to make our way through J-School to graduate together in 2005.

Through thick and thin Gen has always been there for me. No matter what the issue, when the issue or who the issue has involved, Gen has always been accessible and a willing ear and shoulder for me to gripe, groan and giggle to (and with!).

It is so fitting that she take on the role as my Maid of Honor. I wouldn't have it any other way.
